Biometric landowner registration and secure land transaction management in Buganda, Uganda
ViVA piloted the first phase of the Buganda Land Board Single Window Online Compliance System in January 2016, to eventually serve the 1+ million landowners and land leaseholders in Kingdom of Buganda, Uganda. The pilot system includes a self-service Single Window website to satisfy all requirements and registrations for land regulation compliance, including electronic payment of fees. The system also includes two service centers to support the population. In addition to registering land, the service centers provide issuance of smart ID cards and a biometric palm-scanning registration system for 100% secure identification of legitimate landowners.
Blockchain-based property administration system in Tulum, Mexico
ViVA implemented the first blockchain-based property registration and administration system in Latin America for the county government of Tulum, State of Quintana Roo, Mexico. This required complete refreshing of the city’s cadastre, including drone aerial surveying and neighborhood census canvassing. Current and accurate parcel files were then loaded into Medici Land Governance’s property admin software system, to allow parcel owners to conduct all their property transactions and city services electronically. The project is now in expansion to all of Tulum, with the objective of doubling property tax collections in three years.
