Supporting Sustainable Development
Over 80% of the people on earth cannot prove that they own their real assets and do not have a registered deed or title recognized by government authorities or financial institutions. The institute for Liberty and Democracy estimates nearly $10 trillion in value is trapped as “dead capital” for lack of clear title and property rights systems. By securing land rights, ViVA projects help poor landowners leverage their assets more effectively to drive economic growth and prosperity.
Our projects are designed to employ local talent and resources to the maximum extent possible, and then to train and transfer knowledge so that the projects are maintained long after we are finished.
Our projects directly address the goal to strengthen the means of implementation by: (17.1) strengthen domestic resource mobilization by improving domestic capacity for revenue collection, (17.3) mobilize additional financial resources for developing countries from multiple sources, (17.8) enhance the use of enabling technology, in particular information and communications technology, and (17.17) encourage and promote effective public-private partnerships.
